Russian Killnet hackers claimed responsibility for attacks on the websites of major Romanian airports, including Satu Mare International Airport. But also airports in Bucharest, Arad, Suceava, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Craiova.
Flight safety was not affected, but users were unable to get useful flight information, as the respective websites could not be accessed.
TAROM’s website could not be accessed on Sunday evening either. It was most likely a new distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.
The attacks were claimed on Telegram pages by alleged hackers claiming to be operating from Russia.
On the other hand, this kind of attack has been anticipated by Romanian cyber security specialists, given the latest incidents.
There have been thousands of cyber attacks this weekend on the websites of Romanian government institutions.
These attacks were claimed by pro-Russian hackers from the group calling itself Killnet.
